This forum is for discussion about content found on https://apolloinrealtime.org

Very little of the thousands of hours of Mission Control audio on the website has been heard or documented. As you find moments of interest, post them here for discussion.

General Discussion / Re: Apollo 11 Guidance loop very low

It's in work. I just got word that the National Science Foundation has awarded a grant to the researchers who did 11 and 13 audio to do the rest of the Apollo missions (160,000 hours). It will take many years, but it's happening.

And here is a list of tape number and what times they correspond to. I calculated this myself by decoding the timecode signal.
Note that these are the times of the restored audio files (completely denoised and defluttered) that are on the real-time website and might not correspond to the raw files on archive.org

I'm super late to responding to this thread, apologies. Attached are the track numbers for 13. 11 is very similar.

These correspond to the "channel" numbers on Apollo in Real Time, except 30 is added to the HR2 track numbers, for a total of 60 channels. Several channels have not been exported by NASA, namely the DOD channels.

This is an issue with the digitization unfortunately. Long story.

...due to whitehouse communications setup. I believe he was later sent home, but I can't find the clip that refers to that.

This is wonderful detail. Thanks so much for posting.

You should consider contributing to the Apollo Flight Journal. It's the kind of place where the kind of research you're suggesting would find a welcomed home.

69
Great idea. Here's a shift list.

70
Yes, that is recorded at the beginning and end of every tape. Probably just in case the tape was separated from its labelled case.

Very interesting sliver of history.

Unfortunately not. Though you may be able to map your sonos as an audio output from your computer.

Apollo 17 Moments of Interest / Re: Really an Outstanding Mission !

Thanks very much. This forum is a new addition and I haven't integrated any mention of it into the Apollo 17 website yet, that's why it's empty. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

General Discussion / Re: CPU utilization while using site
« on: April 18, 2020, 02:44:58 PM »
Sounds like you've found a workaround. This website asks a lot of the computer running it. Older computers are going to have a tough time. Also, YouTube totally ignores quality directives sent to it and streams whatever it feels like. Frustrating.

Ideally, the website would not use youtube, but being a hobby project there's no way I could pay for that bandwidth!

PAO is in the left ear of the "main" audio--that is, the audio that plays with the youtube video when the mission control audio panel is closed.
