Apollo 17 Operational Planning and Revisions
« on: December 02, 2020, 01:26:48 pm »
I'm looking for times when the mission plan was revised, either on the fly (think Station 4 orange glass) or as the result of other impacts to the schedule.

Station 4 replanning, initial discussion, to add time to fix the fender.

Deleting the trench (that they did do), leaving Jack with nothing to do.

They also revised their destination for Station 1, but I've never been able to find any references to when that change was made. It's my understanding that the change was made because of how long it took to setup the ALSEP (but again, I don't hear anyone talking about how later they are). We don't have the 30-track tapes for 17, so we're missing all the behind the scenes discussion.

The same goes for the deletion of Station 10. Jack double checks that they're not going to Station 10 at all once they depart Station 9 and it's a short "no, not at all" on the radio with nothing more said.

No wonder I couldn't remember this discussion, the audio hasn't been digitized yet!

In the comments at this moment, Jack expresses some of the problems with replanning.
